Carly Fiorina thought it would be a great idea to hold a tailgating event in honor of the University of Iowa’s football game on Saturday, but she got a lot more than she bargained for when protesters who support Planned Parenthood showed up to give her an earful.
The protest, in Iowa City, was just the latest in a weeklong back and forth between the Planned Parenthood and Fiorina over comments the failed CEO of Hewlett-Packard made alleging that she had seen a video showing a live fetus on a table as doctors debated “harvesting” the brain of the fetus. Yet the campaign has been unable to produce the video in question.
One of the protesters, who was dressed as a pack of birth control pills, chanted:
“I-O-W-A, women’s rights are here to stay! Women are watching and we vote!”
Other protesters threw condoms at the GOP candidate, whose campaign later remarked they were:
“Happy [protesters] are bringing more attention to the videos.”
Which again begs the question: Which video, Ms. Fiorina? Produce the video!
While at the Heritage Action policy summit in South Carolina, Fiorina doubled down on her remarks regarding the nonexistent video by commenting:
“Honestly, I went on national television the morning after the debate, and [ABC anchor] George Stephanopoulos told me I was mistaken, that the tape doesn’t exist, that the images aren’t real.
“Well, yes, they are real.”
And on Thursday, Fiorina visited a Christian pregnancy center in South Carolina. With an ultrasound machine in the background, she told an expecting mother:
“It’s good when people know what 17 weeks look like.”
Then Fiornia emerged from the staged photo op and told gathered reporters:
“Liberals and progressives will spend inordinate amounts of time and money protecting fish, frogs, and flies, (but) do not think a 17-week-old, a 20-week-old, a 24-week-old is worth saving. This, ladies and gentlemen, is hypocrisy, and it goes to the core of the character of our nation.”
And the core of the Carly Fiorina campaign is lying repeatedly in the hope that people will believe these lies and it will gain her contributions and votes. As for character, Ms. Fiorina is a shady one at best.
