Earlier this week, Frito-Lay announced they will be creating and selling “Rainbow Dortios” which the company will ship to anyone who donates at least $10 to Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project.
In case you aren’t familiar with It Gets Better, the group is dedicated to working with teens who are bullied to let them know that there’s a network of people who will support them, love, and defend them. The group operates upon the pledge:
“Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I’ll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I’ll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other bullied teens by letting them know that it gets better.”
How can this not be a good thing, right? Well, unless you happen to be a conservative, and then you get highly offended and start hurling threats on social media. Here’s some of what has been posted online so far:
Now @Fritolay is catering to the gay people,,they have rainbow colored Doritos. How fucking stupid. Gay people need to GTFU

ALL US CHRISTIANS, PRO-FAMILY PLEASE BOYCOTT DORITOS, ANOTHER PRO-FAG,ANTI-FAMILY/ANTI CHRISTIAN ORG! https://t.co/3RtLEYsNiq — geoffrey john (@gjsteelhead) September 17, 2015
Just wondering: If you don’t want the rainbow chips, wouldn’t it just be easier to not contribute to Dan Savage’s group and get on with your life? Nah, that would make far too much sense for those who prefer to hate and be outraged over trivial matters.
