At last week’s Republican debate, failed Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina claimed that she had seen a video from Planned Parenthood showing a live fetus on a table, arms moving, as doctors talked about how to best harvest its brain. Fiorina said she was outraged by the video:
“As regards [to] Planned Parenthood, anyone who has watched this videotape, I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama to watch these tapes. Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, it’s heart beating, it’s legs kicking while someone says we have to keep it alive to harvest its brain. This is about the character of our nation.”
One problem with that claim: It’s totally untrue. Media outlets have been asking the Fiorina campaign to produce the video which would verify the gruesome scene she recalls seeing. Even Fox News’ Chris Wallace took issue withFiorina, saying:
“Do you acknowledge what every fact checker has found…that it was only described on the video…there is no actual footage that you just mentioned?”
But Carly would not concede the point or back down in the least. Instead, a political action committee (PAC) supporting her has now created a video which they purport shows what she described. In other words, when you get called out for a lie, just create a bigger one to cover it up.
The PAC spliced together Fiorina’s original statement during the debate, along with an interview from one of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) videos, and some disgusting scenes from the Grantham Collection and the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform — an anti-abortion group that refuses to disclose what country or even what year the video was taken, as well as footage of a stillborn baby. None of it is linked to Planned Parenthood because it never happened at one of their facilities. In fact, Planned Parenthood issued a statement in which it said that the:
“Fraudulent video is beneath a serious candidate for the presidency, and you should take it down immediately.”
Which is exactly the point: Carly Fiorina is not a serious candidate for the presidency. She is merely a lying opportunist who has failed in the business world, failed as a Senate candidate, and now fails as a contender for the White House. She is nothing more than a demagogue who seeks to divide people so she can conquer them.
