GOP Admits Probe Of Planned Parenthood Found No Wrongdoing, But Says ‘There Will Continue To Be Investigations’

On Thursday, with the House of Representatives in turmoil over the sudden withdrawal of Kevin McCarthy to be Speaker of the House, Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which has been investigating alleged wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood, admitted that the committee has found no misuse of federal funds by the women’s health agency.

Chaffetz, during a Judiciary Committee hearing, remarked:

“Did I look at the finances and have a hearing specifically as to the revenue portion and how they spend? Yes. Was there any wrongdoing? I didn’t find any.”

Yet despite this admission, Chaffetz also said he is confident there will be more Congressional inquiries into Planned Parenthood:

“I think there will continue to be investigations.”

WTF?! More investigations so we can pour even more taxpayer money down a rathole? Between this committee and the one on Benghazi, tens of millions of dollars have already been spent and absolutely nothing has been proven which in the least supports the accusations of these probe-happy Republicans.

Might this all have something to do with the fact that the GOP is now in utter disarray and desperately needs to deflect attention away from the fact that they have no plans for how to improve the country? Or might it be another smokescreen designed to raise campaign funds and get them reelected?

During last month’s hearing, Chaffetz and his fellow GOP extremists attempted to insinuate Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, and her staff were being paid exorbitant salaries, and that funds earmarked for women’s health were being used to finance abortions, even though there is a federal law which prohibits such action. They even complained that the group had earned revenue. Shocking! However, Planned Parenthood put that money right back into their operations, and in doing so they helped give hundreds of thousands of American women access to health care they might not have been able to receive.

So now we clearly see the real agenda of the GOP House members: To create fake scandals which will obfuscate their own lack of any genuine ideas and distract from their own incompetence.

Nice try, guys, but we’re on to you.
