There’s a line in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 film “The Godfather Part II” that you may recall:
“Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.”
That being the case, it would appear that Tennessee Senator Bob Corker is sick and tired of Donald Trump, and could be ready to lead the case for impeachment before the senator retires in 2018.
Corker, it should be noted, has questioned Trump’s fitness for office, and that led Trump to fire back on Twitter:
Senator Bob Corker "begged" me to endorse him for re-election in Tennessee. I said "NO" and he dropped out (said he could not win without…
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 8, 2017
..my endorsement). He also wanted to be Secretary of State, I said "NO THANKS." He is also largely responsible for the horrendous Iran Deal!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 8, 2017
…Hence, I would fully expect Corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great agenda. Didn't have the guts to run!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 8, 2017
Corker, however, was more than equal to Trump’s Twitter rantings:
It's a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.
— Senator Bob Corker (@SenBobCorker) October 8, 2017
This back and forth is now leading some to suggest that Corker is preparing to tell others in the GOP that Trump needs to be impeached:
If Bob Corker leads the charge to impeach Trump, he will be the "Savior" of the GOP and win Dem respect along the way. Bob has big plans.

@SenBobCorker YOU are a profile in courage! Where's the rest of the GOP? SOS GOP LEADERSHIP NEEDED. DON'T let Corker stand alone. Speak up!
— Malena♁Impeach Trump (@tweetMalena) October 8, 2017
OMG! Even Senator Bob Corker knows what an unhinged person Trump can be. Haha! A WH adult day care center. Impeach him please.
— Judy (@Cici0804) October 8, 2017
Impeach this POS please Senator Corker. Your party is currently filled with cowards. Get with McCain and make it happen
— Truth Hurts (@KyloInMN) October 8, 2017
@SenBobCorker Lead the GOP in the call for the impeachment of this indelible stain on your party.
We the people demand it#Corker #Impeach— Kerry McCue (@krrmcc) October 8, 2017
Go Senator Corker! Impeach or 25th amendment the warmongering, racist Peetus.
— Rose N (@rknecho) October 8, 2017
Senator Corker will you encourage your colleagues to vote to impeach then? #TalkIsCheap #NoAction #DoTheRightThing
— Carlos Romero (@TUCxicano) October 8, 2017
And others on social media wondered if it was such a wise move on Trump’s part to start a war with others in the GOP:
An adult day care center whose chief resident can't count to 51… https://t.co/QnXl8tDJm3
— Preet Bharara (@PreetBharara) October 8, 2017
And, I'm not saying I'm a big fan of Corker. But, how is Trump getting in a war with him remotely helpful?
— Mike Dury (@MikeDury) October 8, 2017
As usual, Donald Trump has decided he feels most comfortable when everyone is his enemy. Doesn’t exactly sound like a good strategy for staying in office, does it?
