If you were wondering why exactly Donald Trump has been such a spectacular failure as a businessman and president, a new article from the Washington Post suggests one word explains the reason 250,000 Americans are dead from COVID-19: Laziness.
As you may have suspected, Donald Trump is lazy. He hates to work. Instead, he expects things to fall into his lap the way they have most of his life.
Now that he’s facing being back in the business world and likely having to pay dozens of attorneys to keep him out of prison, Trump knows he needs to be able to make money, but he doesn’t want to have to work for it:
“In a nod to the reality that he is destined to leave office in January, the president is seriously contemplating life beyond the White House, telling advisers that he wants to remain an omnipresent force in politics and the media — perhaps by running for the White House again.
“Trump also has been exploring ways to make money for relatively little work, such as giving paid speeches to corporate groups or selling tickets to rallies. In addition, he may try to write a score-settling memoir of his time as president and appear on television, in a paid or unpaid capacity.”
Shortly after it became clear that he had lost to Joe Biden, there were suggestions Trump might launch a right-wing media company that would compete directly with Fox News. But that would take too much effort:
“Though there has also been considerable chatter among Trump’s associates about his starting a media company of his own, many close to the president said they believe that option is less likely, in part because it would be an arduous undertaking without guaranteed success.”
There’s also chatter about Trump announcing that he’ll run again in 2024, but many have doubts he has the necessary fire in the belly for such an endeavor. After all, a second run for the Oval Office would require hard work, and that’s not something Donald Trump has ever wanted to do.
