Every now and then I come across something that is so despicable, so incredibly odious, that it literally makes me want to rip the hair out of my head. Yep, you guessed it: This is one of those things.

GOP Colorado State Representative Gordon Klingenschmitt is the object of my ire today. This wingnut extremist hate-filled bag of intestinal gas commented recently on a story you no doubt heard about just last week.

In Colorado, Michelle Wilkins, who was seven-months pregnant, was lured by an ad posted on Craigslist for baby clothes to a location where another woman, Dynel Lane, repeatedly stabbed the pregnant woman and then “removed” the fetus from her body. Ms. Wilkins lived, but her child died.

And now we have Klingenschmitt, a former military chaplain, saying this vile and heinous crime was just punishment because abortion is legal in the United States. He’s even quoting the Bible to justify his empty-headed lies. Specifically, Klingenschmitt referenced a passage from the Book of Hosea which reads:

“Their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.”

Few things make me angrier than right wing extremist asshats who commit violent acts or call for violence against others and then try to cloak themselves in the Bible. The nuts who kill doctors performing legal services for women often take this approach. But I have news for them and for Gordon Klingenschmitt: At no time does Jesus condone or excuse murder for any reason!

Here’s the rest of Klingenschmitt’s on-air rant:

“I wonder if there is prophetic significance to America today in that scripture. This is the curse of God upon America for our sin of not protecting innocent children in the womb — and part of that curse for our rebellion against God as a nation is that our pregnant women are ripped open.”

I’m a Christian, and my message to Gordon Klingenschmitt is this: Stop using your religion to incite hatred and violence against others. I’m quite sure the God I worship isn’t pleased by your words.
