OK, Republicans, as the old saying goes, the jig is up. You may be claiming that you’re passing discriminatory laws against the LGBT community in your states–i.e. Mississippi and North Carolina–in order to “protect” children from people you call transgender “predators,” but now even Fox News is calling you out for being so full of crap that your eyes are brown.
Today on “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace was discussing the issue of so-called bathroom laws with a panel when one of the panelists, conservative author Ben Domenech remarked:
“They’re less concerned about transgender people coming into bathrooms than they are about men using this as a way to get into locker rooms with women and to exploit that opportunity to participate in some kind of criminal act.”
Wallace took aim and fired back by saying Fox News had been researching the issue:
“We actually tried to find out whether it is a public safety issue. Whether it is a problem with transgender people misusing bathrooms to prey on others.”
What did they find? PolitiFact looked into the issue and found that there was no known “instance of criminals convicted of using transgender protections as cover in the United States.”
Therefore, Wallace rightly concluded:
“This seems to be a solution in search of a problem.”
So to all the bullshit artists in the GOP who say they want to protect innocent victims with their ludicrous and discriminatory laws, I say this: The fig leaf is off. We can all see that you are lying in the most craven and pathetic way possible. Do us all a favor and crawl back under whatever rock you came from.
Watch Chris Wallace blow the whistle on the GOP and their bathroom laws:
