Michelle Obama Just Said What We’re All Thinking About Trump’s Refusal To Admit Defeat

It has been clear for over a week now that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden, and it wasn’t even close, with Biden earning 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232.

And yet, here we are on November 16 with Trump still refusing to concede or do his part to ensure a seamless transition for the incoming Biden administration, which is not only a violation of established protocol but also a threat to the national security of the United States.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has had enough of Trump’s foot-dragging, and she’s calling him out in a post she shared on Instagram.

Reflecting back on how she felt just four years ago, Mrs. Obama begins:

“This week, I’ve been reflecting a lot on where I was four years ago. [Hillary] Clinton had just been dealt a tough loss by a far closer margin than the one we’ve seen this year. I was hurt and disappointed — but the votes had been counted and Donald Trump had won. The American people had spoken.”

Adding that she also recalled how painful it had been to have to help the incoming Trump administration after the “racist” things the Donald had said about her husband:

“That wasn’t something I was ready to forgive. But I knew that, for the sake of our country, I had to find the strength and maturity to put my anger aside. So I welcomed Melania Trump into the White House and talked with her about my experience, answering every question she had — from the heightened scrutiny that comes with being First Lady to what it’s like to raise kids in the White House.”

Why did she relent and do what was expected? Because, she explains “our love of country requires us to respect the results of an election even when we don’t like them or wish it had gone differently — the presidency doesn’t belong to any one individual or any one party.”

Mrs. Obama ends her post with a powerful reminder that Donald Trump would be wise to heed, though it seems unlikely he will:

“This isn’t a game. So I want to urge all Americans, especially our nation’s leaders, regardless of party, to honor the electoral process and do your part to encourage a smooth transition of power, just as sitting presidents have done throughout our history.”

The only consolation we can take from what we’re seeing from Donald Trump right now is that it’s safe to bet he’ll go down in history as the biggest failure to ever hold the office of president.
