For almost two years, President Donald Trump was obsessed with the investigation into possible collusion between members of his 2016 campaign and Russia conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Just last month, Trump weighed in on the matter via Twitter:
The Mueller investigation is totally conflicted, illegal and rigged! Should never have been allowed to begin, except for the Collusion and many crimes committed by the Democrats. Witch Hunt!

But it now seems that Mueller and the Russia probe are the least of Trump’s problems, thanks in large part to prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), who are looking into Trump’s 2016 inaugural committee, where it’s believed millions of dollars were donated by foreign governments in direct violation of federal law.
If all that isn’t bad enough, we have the early stirrings that a racketeering case is also being made by the SDNY against the Trump Organization, and that could be BIG TROUBLE for Trump, who has been known to make less than kosher business deals over the years.
Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner noted during an appearance on MSNBC recently that he’s convinced the SDNY is indeed working on a RICO (Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations) case against Trump’s business, the very same kind of case that has been successfully used to take down mafia families over the past few decades:
“I do think that the Southern District of New York is probably evaluating whether they may be dealing with a potential RICO case.
“In the early 2000’s, I was trying RICO cases right here in Washington, DC. We were going after big gang activity in the city — gun running, murder for hire, drug running,”
The challenge to such a case, Kirschner went on to explain, is how you establish the hierarchy in a RICO case, but that won’t be nearly as challenging with the Trump Organization:
“And one of the real challenges we have is proving that there is a hierarchy, because to bring a RICO case, you need to establish a hierarchy — an actual organization — not just a sort of disorganized, street crime gang.
“Well, what do we have in the Trump Organization? If ever we had a hierarchy, that’s it.
“We have it because you have one person — who by all accounts is at the top — and nothing happens without his say so.”
Kirschner then laid out how he believes the SDNY will use Allen Weisselberg, the Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization, to destroy Trump and his business by “giving Weisselberg complete immunity, get everything we know about the criminal shenanigans of the Trump Organization, and then the only he way gets in trouble is if he lies.”
If that happens, Trump is finished and so is the Trump Organization. All of Trump’s assets — and those of his business — could then be frozen and eventually seized by the government if Trump was found guilty.
In other words, a RICO prosecution mean the utter and complete destruction of Trump, his company, and his family.
